Last Call: Student Video Contest Closes Tomorrow

There’s still time—but not much. The Districts Make the Difference Student Video Contest closes tomorrow, March 31, and high school students across the country are already stepping up. Entries have come in from 21 states so far, showing just how far the message is spreading.

Open to students in grades 9–12, the contest invites participants to create a short (60 seconds or less) video showcasing how special districts make a difference in their communities—from clean water and fire protection to parks and public safety.

The opportunity is simple, creative, and impactful. There’s no essay required, and submissions are judged on creativity, accuracy, production quality, and overall storytelling. Even better, students have a chance to earn scholarships—up to $2,000 for first place—along with national recognition.

Not sure where to start? The website offers helpful resources to get students up to speed quickly, including easy-to-understand information about what special districts are and a Special Districts Guide that breaks down their role in everyday life. These tools make it easy to build a strong, informed video in a short amount of time.

Whether it’s highlighting a local program, interviewing a district professional, or explaining how special districts support everyday life, every story helps raise awareness of these essential services.

If you’ve been thinking about entering, now is the moment. Grab your phone, tell your story, and submit before the deadline.
